Weather & Force Majeure Policy

At Hotel Skálholt, we understand that travel in Iceland can be affected by weather conditions, especially during winter months. We aim to be as fair and flexible as possible while also protecting our business.

General Policy

All reservations are subject to our standard cancellation policy, regardless of weather conditions, including flight delays or cancellations.

Severe Weather / Road Closures

In cases where:

• Main access roads are officially closed (as confirmed by Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration / road.is), or
• Authorities advise against travel in the area,

we offer the following options:

• Free date change (subject to availability), or
• Credit/voucher for a future stay (valid for 12–24 months)

Flight Delays or Cancellations

Flight disruptions are unfortunately outside our control. In these cases:

• Standard cancellation terms apply
• We are happy to assist with rescheduling your stay where possible

Travel Insurance

We strongly recommend that all guests have valid travel insurance that covers weather-related disruptions and cancellations.
