Hotel Skálholt is a charming accommodation on the Golden Circle and perfect for those exploring South Iceland or the highlands. We offer 18 double rooms with private bathrooms, two cottages and a larger three-bedroom house all with access to a hot tub.
The facility is well suited for groups, meetings, courses and events such as concerts, weddings and yoga classes. Skálholt is a historic site that was a bishop's seat from 1056.

WHICH RESTAURANT?
Hvönn Restaurant offers experimental cuisine with an emphasis on local Icelandic ingredients. We source fresh meat, fish and vegetables from the surrounding countryside and change our menu according to the seasons and availability of exciting ingredients.
During the day we offer a bistro menu with Icelandic dishes, but in the evenings the menu changes regularly depending on the seasons and availability of ingredients.
Chef Bjarki Sól uses his years of experience and network to ensure quality and freshness in every meal.

The Organist House is the perfect place for large families or groups of up to 6 people. The house has 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen and a hot tub and a large gas grill on the terrace.
Skálholt Cottage
2 bedroom cottage with great views. The cottages can accommodate up to 5 adults in 2 bedrooms and a pull-out sofa in the living room. Fully equipped kitchen, gas grill and hot tub, plus a patio.
Skálholtsbúðir
Skálholtsbúðir is the perfect place for up to 20 people, families, groups of friends or the workplace. The house has 11 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a banquet and a meeting room.
About us
Bjarki Þór Ingigerður og Sólmundarson and Gunnhildur Helga Gunnarsdóttir took over Hotel Skálholt and Hvönn restaurant in 2021 and have built a magnificent hotel and restaurant in Skálholt.
The emphasis is on a unique dining experience where local ingredients play a key role. Along with comfortable accommodation in one of the most beautiful places in the country. Bjarki has a good reputation for designing banquets, and together they place great emphasis on warm and personal service in this historic place.
Skálholt offers a variety of services all year round: dinners, parties, conferences, courses, meetings, quiet days and various events.
